  4. Nutrients

Setting up

  1. Saturate the grow medium by gently pouring room temperature water over it.

  2. Fill the pot with room temperature water until roughy 2 cm from the top. The water should contact the grow medium.

  3. Sprinkle the seeds onto the grow medium.

  4. Place your sill pot in a dark and warm environment to allow seeds to germinate.

  5. Check on your seeds every couple of days. Once you notice seeds sprouting and growing little stems, slowly begin introducing it to full sun.

Feeding your plant

  1. Once your seeds sprout and you can see the first roots touching the water in your Jayd Pot, place one full eye dropper of nutrients into the water.

  2. Once your Jayd Pot is almost out of water, refill halfway. Make sure not to overfill, as this could drown your plant.

  3. Every time you refill your Jayd Pot with water, place one eyedropper full of Plant Food into the pot. Make sure to shake the Plant Food well before use.

  4. Store your Plant Food in a cool dry place.

Maintaining your plant

  1. If your plant is tall and skinny, it means it isn’t receiving enough sunlight. Place in a location where it gets the recommended amount of sun (usually around 6 hours a day of full sun).

  2. If your plant is short and brown, it may mean that your plant is getting too hot or too much sun. If this is the case, try placing your plant in a different location. Often times, morning sun is less intense than the afternoon sun.

  3. Your plant may have a nutrient deficiency or disease if the leaves are turning different colours such as a light green, yellow, or brown. This could mean that you are not giving your plant enough nutrients or too much. It could also mean that there is a problem with your plant’s roots or the water is contaminated.

  4. If you notice any dirt, bugs, or foreign objects in the water, poor the water out. Rinse your pot to clean, then fill halfway and add an eyedropper of Plant Food.

  5. If you notice any dark roots, carefully trim them off with scissors. Make sure to leave the white roots attached.

  6. If your roots look and feel slimy, carefully rinse under room temperature water to clean.

  7. All root maintenance should be done with extra care. Any major damage done to the root system could kill your plant.
